It's a knockoff of the x-camera battery mounting solution, which I own. I hate those overseas manufacturers that copy others designs.
 
I've been using the Tilta version for a long time now and that works very well (although is more expensive)
 
I've been looking at this one for our second Scarlet, but don't like the fact it has 1 d-tap which you give up to power the camera. Have the Tilta already for the first camera and it works great. Probably will get a second, since the regulated power output + d-tap means you have tons of options for powering peripherals, all in one small form factor.
