Camera's been performing fine (with the execption of some errors) until this evening when I turned it off, inserted a CF card loaded the the new firmware, and hit the power button.

...nothing. It won't turn on. I've tried both my batteries and wall ac juice and nothing works. it just lays there dead.

HELP! :(

I contacted support through RED.com

I just read about the "unplugging accs" fix, but it didn't work

Anyone know whats going on?

I would, but the camera won't turn on. How do I load firmware on a camera that won't turn on?

I was thinking you could try and put a different CF card in, it may be the new Beta Build 16 v3.2.1 Have you tried turning the camera on without a CF card in?

Brandon, saw the trouble ticket, too. Any more info from when it was running that was not normal?

I'll try turning it on with a CF card installed with the build 16 firmware that I was using before. I hadn't thought to try that.

Yes I've tried card, no card, drive, no drive.

Yeah actually, when I turned it on the first time to format the card, it didn't recognize that the card was plugged in. even though it didn't appear to have any media active, I tried to format anyway and it told me that the current media was to slow for that action (4k, 2:1, 24fps BTW). So then I tried to tell it to unmount the the card even though it didn't say there was one plugged in and it didn't respond. so I just unplugged the card. Nothing bad happened and I plugged the card back in. It then recognized the card and I was able to format it normally. I unmounted the card, removed it and then turned off the camera.

When I came back with the new firmware loaded on the card, I plugged it in and hit the power button. nothing...

Hmm, it does like something we might have to eval here at RED. Let me copy your last post and add to the trouble ticket to get more eyes on it.

Thanks Brent, I really appreciate the help. Of course, I'd rather not have to part with it, but if it needs to go in I'd want to do it ASAP. Since I've had it less than 2 month I assume it's still under warrantee. Would I have to pay for shipping to and from Lake Forest?

Just shoot me an email tomorrow at brent - at - red - dot - com and we can discuss arrangements, for sure. Or call, I think you have the number :)
