Hi,

Today the sound guy plugged in the audio jack via the A-box and came in with a signal way too hot. after a couple of seconds (time to realize it) the camera went off.
Now the camera won't turn on. Only a white flash on the screen and the battery led stays red (fans turned on a couple of times but not anymore). Tried with Red Brick and with side handle, no go.

Anyone had a similar situation? Anything we can do to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

Was the camera supplying phantom power when this happened? Also, did you get in touch with your BombSquad rep? Maybe try holding down the power button and resetting the camera to default (reset the audio settings, which might get it to boot.)

If the signal was just loud, it shouldn't have harmed anything. If phantom power was on, that might be very bad. Similarly, did he plug the 3.5mm end of the A-box into the camera, or plug into one of the A-box's XLRs (which was already plugged into the cameras 3.5mm jack on boot up)?

I've heard that plugging in the 3.5mm jack while phantom power is being supplied will fry the audio (because the ring and sleeve short each other out as you insert the 3.5mm jack), but didn't think it could happen if the 3.5mm was already plugged in at boot up and you connect to the XLR. Hopefully RED chimes in because I'd definitely like some clarity on this...
