Camera Strap for Red Komodo

Hi everyone,

This is a bit out of the box, but has anyone attached a camera strap to their Komodo? Want to create a super casual, walk-around weekend set-up, and thought I’d see if anything has already tried to do this and learned some lessons.

I frequently use the Komodo as a walk around camera for casual shooting. I utilize a peak design quick connect strap and attract the connectors to cameras lugs that are screwed into my SmallRig cage. Paired with Leica M lenses and the Canon BP batteries, Komodo becomes a pretty portable package.

Oooh, the Leica lens sounds nice. I would love to grab a great, older lens.

Thanks for the tip - I ended up experimenting a bit the the Peak Design system. Not totally sold on their connector, so I may try to get a simpler camera lug, like you have.

I had some BlackRapid straps from carrying an SLR around. Tried them with the Komodo (screwed into the cage) and they work, but the parts clink and clank and make noise so I didn't use them long.

If you could find one, the LEVO strap by ViewFactor was my absolute favorite. Completely ridiculously overbuilt, it fit the design of the RED to a T. Curt Von Badinski is no longer running ViewFactor, so finding one of these is going to be a real challenge. It'd be great to see him create an updated version for the newer, smaller camera bodies.

If you have vertical mounting points at two sides, I would recommend the Sigma Strap Holder, originally designed for fp Camera. These fit the 1/4" threads and the lug swivels 360°. Cheers, Steve
