I've also experienced this problem on a shoot last week. Playback from Raid resulted in a Camera restart multiple times. My solution was to use a different Raid drive, problem went away.

You Tooo!!
I have experienced the problem I switched drives and it went away. The camera kept on rebooting everytime I hit the play button. I finally reformatted the drive and it seems to have fixed the problem. I would have loved to been able to review the footage but gave up after repeated attempts.

I have this same problem with one of my two Red Drives. One drive work perfect and plays back fine. The other drive records fine, but if I try to playback from the camera it crashes and needs to be restarted.

I have pretty much stopped using that drive and have been planning to contact Red about the issue.

Had the same issue with both drives. Sent the camera back and had the sata interface replaced. Its been 4 months without another issue and last week I started having the same problems. I believe its cable-related so I sent one f them to be checked. Symptoms are the same: freeze on playback, restart with blue screen, forced shutdown and with the second restart everything is ok. Only difference that twice it froze while postprocessing a shot. The r3ds were ok but there were no proxies in the folder.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we are looking into it.

For those of you with issues with RED-DRIVES mentioned here, has re-formatting the drive (as Lonny mentioned) resolved the issue? Just trying to gather data points here...

Also, it would be good to know if the drives are being unmounted always on both computer and camera, and if files are ever deleted on the drives and then recording again without formatting.

Thanks.

yesterday we tried again after Natt inputs on email again and it works. I'm not with the camera. Will it work if the drive cables interchange.

Is there any difference when the drive cable ends changed?

Either way works.

I have just started having the same problem. I have used my drive for months without any problems and this just started happening. Can't think of anything I am doing differently. I know of one other person who has had this problem for some time.

sometimes it works!

sometimes it works!

Either way works.

Same cable works for us now. And when we try to play after some time the camera restarts again.

Expecting your thoughts Deanan and we tried with multiple drives and same results. We are starting our feature film next week (Oct 15)

Same probleme for me, sometime it work, and sometime it doesn't, then I have to pull the alimentation cable to switch off. As a result I stoped using the playback. It seems like when a corrupt file is in the hard disk, playback goes bugy.

Can you test the drives over fw800 on a mac and see if they look ok?
Are you able to test on different cameras?

Deanan,

The Drive works perfectly with FW800 cable on my MacBook Pro.
