Hi,
Just curious to find out what types of camera reports people are using. I've attached the report book I've been using (as a .jpg, because I can't get the .pdf small enough for uploading). 2 reports print on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet which means it can fit into standard camera report books. The evolution of this camera report sheet was helped by Brent Craig (AC), Chris Mierzwinski (AC) and Morning Glory (DIT). If anyone's interested in the .pdf or .doc just PM me.
As a point of explanation this report sheet evolved out of the onset workflow we use. It begins with the 2nd AC filling in the report sheet on set and delivering it to the DIT with the Red-Drive or CF card (which we generically call DigiMags). The DIT offloads the files to a Master hard drive (we call it the DigiNeg Master) and also clones all the files to a Clone hard drive (what we call the DigiNeg Clone). The DIT then erases the Log file so when the DigiMag is returned and mounted on the camera it appears to be empty. If during formatting a DigiMag warns there are clips on the drive it is sent back to the DIT to figure out if it's a matter of the Log file not being erased or if a bigger mistake has been made and the files haven't been offloaded yet. The total Gigabytes for each day are added up from the reports and noted in the Daily Production Report.
We prefer the term offload because it's the same terminology used for film, whereas download suggests transferring a file from a remote server. As a general name we call the Red-Drive or CF cards DigiMags, each with their own number. When there are more then 9 clips on a DigiMag another report sheet is used. As a rule we try to offload the Red-Drives as often as is convenient so we're alerted to any problems right away. This is also helpful during the last few setups so the DIT isn't stuck offloading/cloning/verifying too long after wrap.
