Camera Dolly

Hi guys!

I’m looking for a solid dolly option. I need to shoot a few models on a set. I want the camera to smoothly dolly in and out about 10 to 15 feet. Fast and smooth linear movements. I thought about Dana skater dolly , but there will be too much track in the shot since the track is elevated. Is my only option a Fisher? Is there an ultra smooth tripod dolly?

Please advice.

The number one thing that is going to get you a good shot is a good dolly grip. Whether using a sled dolly like Doug recommends or a chapman of a fisher, Well laid track and a good pusher are the key (assuming the camera op is competent;-) ). I usually have a full size dolly on the truck, and then a sled dolly for hard to get to locations.

Believe it or not, this thing is actually woth the money to have more operating room on a dolly like the long Valley one -

Putting a riser on the dana helps a ton, able to do a full 10 ft push/pull with a very slight tilt up on a 21mm. (5K)

+1 on the Long Valley Dolly. I've had mine for years. It's a great system.

I have a Matthews Dutti Dolly - love it!

Was also thinking of getting the tripod wings so I can put a tripod on it.
