Couple of things,
Now there is a stream of Red coming to this part of the world, I’m wondering if local Redusers with a camera would be interested showing their camera to others.

Apart from just touching/getting familiar with the camera I think it’d be useful for those about to order, to inspect an assembled camera to see what actually works (for them) and what doesn’t.
Or maybe there could be a few seasoned cameramen out there who want some hands-on time with a Red in return for general cinematography tips/procedures.

Another thing…..as a lot of you know, we assembled an OZ Reduser contact list last year. There are about 30 names on it. It’s also a good way to get in contact with Red owners to hire Red cameras/emergency parts. Are there others who wish to add themselves to the list?

Dave

Speaking of this.. You have not said a WORD as to how your camera is doing... YOU BUM!

Talk to me Dave, how goes the shooting?

Post or private, but either way TALK TO ME

Red#: 444

I gotta say this again.

You've got the coolest serial number ever.

Can we switch REDs when mine come home?

Mine would probably be somewhere in the ~N: 4444 vicinity.

...

I know, I know.. I just can't help it, I'm a kind of numerology geek.

:clown2:

What is it about the number 44? Its something isnt it.

It's a bit strange.....

I wanted it for a few reasons...affordability, 35mm pics, engineering etc.
Now I got it, a lot of that is gone out the window and I'm about to have a relationship with something that is gonna take me on a journey!

For all it's blessings, weaknesses, spirit of everyone that has gone into it and the endless discussions about it...they're all kinda left behind as I take the black box out for a spin and discover for the first time what it does...and what it wants to (upgrades)....explore every gift it's got and it's beautiful colours...it's definitely an artist's pallete.....some handycam!!

Taking it for a spin to Bondi Beach & Oxford St tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Dave,

Wow.. Great post.. The artist in you is coming out already! Are you going to NAB by any chance?

Maybe RED should implement a "no-gay" option in the camera.

The sensor will detect if there are any gays in the picture and will mask the "gay" pixels. And all that will remain will be a shot with a ghostly, uncanny presence...

Problem solved.

Or you could that in post too, using the UnGay Mask filter.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
this isn't the place for such shit -

Moderators? Anyone?!

Great idea Dave! I would love to attend any hands on days that come about, please keep us informed. I went to Mike's ACS gathering at FOX Studios late last year and it was brilliant.

Pretty sure I'm on the owner's list already, but if not...

Cheers,

Jim

Love to see ....

Love to see ....

Hi Dave,

I am about to finalise my accessories order as my camera is almost ready to ship. I really would love to see someones Red and their accessories so I can work out which I want and need.

Please let me know if you can arrange a showing of anyones Red.

Cheers, Tim.

Sounds good...where's the list?

Very funny!

we just got #698 yesterday, still haven't had a chance to test it. We are yet to recieve the bottom plate and shoulder dovetail as they are on back order. It is built like a tank!

We're more then happy to show people and help out with other red owners.

no 4k gays please

Personally I think that someone should register 4kgays.com...

As for the no-gay option, that would require that 'gaydar' be implemented in a microchip, so far I think that has escaped the grasp of modern science... Hell not even all the people I know have a working gaydar internally.

On the more serious topic note... I don't have a RED camera myself, but I'm usually more than happy to share the opinions/thoughts/knowledge I've gained so far by phone or email for friendly like-minded sorts in and around the greater Australasian area (other geographic areas are exclude, because I hear they have cooties).
