  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Call for delivery...

sony ex1 was sold out in germany.
i think it´s a bestseller indeed.

and an awesome camera (in this prize range)

but however, i want finally my red ... please let june end ...

ex1 is really popular in my experience too.
but i want my red .....................hope hope hope for july

Hey lighten up Arethra! I'm only being a smartass, respect was neither expected nor considered desirable:biggrin:

No worries... I understand your sarcasm Now!

No harm No foul! Have a great day !

Yes Kaya......... I want my RED's also!!! I heard you may have some good beer over in Berlin, any favorites?

Cheers
Dave

Sorry to contradict here, but there are situations where I'd rather use an EX-1, every camera has it's own playground. I'd never sell the EX-1 only because we have our Red One now.

The EX-1 leaves the Pana HVX-2xx in the dust, and Red many of the high-end competitors.

Regards,

Uli

Hi,

That is where Scarlet comes in to play.

Pilsner is also my favorite style of beer.. I'll look for Berliner here in the states and we'll have a toast when you & I get our cameras!

Cheers

Agreed, but we can't buy one yet. I think Scarlet is going to rule the $3500 and up "prosumer" market. The one advantage that many other 2/3" cameras are going to have over Scarlet will be interchangeable lenses or lenses with greater zoom range. Scarlet is only going to have a fixed 8X zoom. I'm sure there will be wide and tele adapters, but each probably introduces some light loss.

And so...

"A production camera with release versions of RED CINE and Red Alert". Now it's on the shelf!

I've been waiting 5 months for my camera. I'm a one-dude operation in an outpost called Taiwan. My wife is pressuring me to invest in a Bali Villa while we wait, 'cause it'll generate some revenue. I always talk too much, drink too much and have great times at parties.

My question is, by the time you get to 3000, will there be a "buy now" button only? (Though you mention, "...then we will look at #'s...).

You're sending out the call for the first 500, but you haven't delivered the first 2000. (This is also a strong indicator of how good build 16 must be!).

But is production really ramping up, or just a goal? Is EVERYTHING a go? ...because this call for delivery makes me very confident in RED products, but also a bit Timothy Leary about when my e-mail comes. I hope that by then I can (although you're groundbreaking), reach my audience without degrees in physics and computer science. HEY! Which one of you just said, "Buy a point and shoot!?" I'll get ya! ...Cause I want DOF, at least!

Second last Q: If you're really in a hole and want to shoot RED, could you transfer your RED ONE deposit into an upcoming Scarlet account?

Lastly: are the new Korean "Scarlet" LCD TV's a copyright infringement? ;>)

Thanks, Spoutnik, I actually didn't know that 3327 may arrive for my BD at the end of September! ; > )

However, my point was, actually, at that point, can we still have a period of grace before having to commit full funds and take possession? Can we defer our prize for some (?) time? Or as a running production model, is this more than generous unthinkably wonderful nod to the little guy gone?

That's my west-side question.

Yes, that helps in killing the cross-camera downpayment links. They're obviously separate entities. BTW, I want my RED ONE like I want my high school sweetheart! And I keep waiting....

God I hope all of the 1-500 non-committers drop out so we can get our 2000-2025 shipment sooner.
The one thing that really drags me down is the reservation for accessories based on body number. Accessories should have their own reservation list, first money in = first shipment out :P
Yah, its been said, but still....

I could be mistaken but I think the priority order is from the shipping date of the camera. So a 500's who would finaly buy now will go after a 1000's who paid in full and got their camera shipped 2 months ago.

One of those

One of those

It's strange that there are people still hesitating.
Even if they don't want\need the camera (), they can make a nice profit by taking possesion and reselling it to people with no res. number (or a high one), who need it ASAP. The proper way, IMHO.

Well I´m one of those people but I´m not hesitating. I don´t want my deposit back neither want to sell it at a higher price to make a couple of thousands out of a desperate guy. It´s just not my business. I just want to be able to offer a rock solid, 100% stable camera for rent but I feel (from the users opinions) that the camera is not there yet.

I bought an ultraprime lens set specially for this camera (if that serves as a proof of commitment).

To be honest, I don´t want to be a beta tester, I don´t want to learn the workarounds for the problems I just want a stable camera (I´m sure that´s going to happen soon and I´m not in a hurry) before sending the rest of the money. So yes, I rather wait and I think it´s only fair to keep the position in line until the camera performs flawlessly.

Best regards

Heh, keep waiting if you feel it necessary. In the mean time, you can send me those ultra primes and I'll take care of them for you, test them out on my camera, etc.. :)

Seriously, I understand your feelings. I know a couple people who are hesitating for the same reasons. The term "beta" just scares them, as do the little bugs that pop up with each new firmware build. Those of us who currently own the camera have to take it in stride and accept the eccentricities as the camera develops. But I think that's why Jim is giving everyone fair warning that the day of the camera no longer being "beta" is rapidly approaching. I don't think RED will force anyone to arrange delivery until the camera is upgraded from beta to release status.
