Here is a shot from the other side of Irvine looking out over to the direction of Oakley. Pretty intense week for us here. I was up to the fires edge today and saw how close it actually came to Oakley.

We up here in the Okanagan (Canada) still remember this vividly-we had a major forest fire in 2003. Very eery feeling, blood red sun through the smoke, tobacco orange sky, yeah...them could be quite trying times.

I remember that. Kelowna, BC. I was there when it was happening. I never seen so many people come out of a church on a weekday morning. Amazing. I think this one in Cali is worse. They must need more fire fighters.

CNN said at least two of the fires were arson. Police shot and killed a man trying to start another fire.

Reminds me of fire investigator John L. Orr's book <link> where he wrote about a serial arsonist in So-Cal. It turns out that he was the arsonist himself.... There was a show about him on TV last week, before the fires started. I hope there isn't a bunch of copycats out there. I know where to start looking first....

Yikes, the Rancho Bernardo fire is very close to my old stomping ground. I hope they're all out soon!
