Well, not sure if this is a solved issue or whether it remains unsolved but...

I am trying to run my Scarlet W on a Ronin. I am running power off of camera through the DJI converter and so I have a flexi dtap 18" cable for that. So thats covered, leaving only the monitor cable. My 18" Wooden Camera cable that runs from my wooden camera top plate up to the 7" monitor on the handle is too stiff and causes the motors to error out and shut off after about a minute of use. Super annoying.

I found another company that sells a flexible cable that could be a good solution. http://shop.battlefieldcine.com/product-p/14-00004-00.htm
I was pretty happy when I found that but then quickly heard from others that Red has updated the firmware, now making that cable unreliable.

Are there any other options out there? Who else is running into this issue? My next step(unless somebody here has an idea) would be to purchase a 5" lcd and purchase the battlefield cable. But then again, will that even work with the new firmware?

Ok, I need to go to sleep.

Thanks in advance,

The DSMC2 7" does some crazy flickering and is completely unreliable when used with flexible cables from 3rd parties. Red should be making their own flex cables for gimbal work so we don't rely on non-RED cables. I had emailed bombsquad and they said they would mention the idea to someone. It's a no brainer considering that Red is marketed as an attractive camera system for gimbal and drone work.

My current solution is using my flexible cables with the old 5" Red Touch. I have no problems running the old monitor. Not an ideal solution as I'd love to use the bigger monitor, but it works well and I'm glad I kept my 5" as a backup.

Yea most people either use the lemo ultra thin cables or use a different monitor (non RED) for monitoring on a gimbal. Tilta has probably one of the best DSMC 2 cables I’ve seen/used in terms of its flexibility and weight. It’s not quite as thin as the ultra thin lemo versions, but it’s def’n thin enough for gimbal work, and it’s been the most rock solid one I’ve used.
