There are two cables that are basically the same, but I wanted to make sure I did not mess this up.

One cable is for the LCD and the Other is for the EVF

Now they will BOTH plug into each unit, but is there a specific cable for a specific unit?

One has a straight plug with a 90 degree turn plus

The other has two 90 degree turn plugs.

Also one has a shielding box on it.

So the question is: Does one cable go with one unit, or is it a matter of choice?

I think I know the answer, but because of a situation I have myself, in, I need the "official" answer

The official answer would be ... the one with both 90 degree plugs belongs to the viewfinder.
But you can interchange and use both freely on the LCD and EVF.

Always wondered about the "official" difference. Most people want a low profile setup, and most times that means a right angle connector is preferable. So what was the thinking behind the difference?

Exactly that..

..the lowest profile cabling for RED-EVF it's right angle to right angle, but for RED-LCD it's right angle to straight..

Really? I hate the LCD sticky out connector! Well "hate" is probably overstating it... :-)

Alright.. Here's another question. Is it Okay to unplug and replug the EVF or the LCD without powering down the camera?

I do it all the time. I remember reading a post about it last year, but can't remember if it was 'official' or not.

I know that the new and old cables don't mix as well. The EVF/LCD cables from my #1731 do not fit very well with an LCD cable from a camera in the 4000's. I stuck them both on recent job and when I went to take them off, it took me a min or two to get one of them to release because the newer cable was at a slightly different angle than the old cables so the cables rubbed together very tightly.

I use the straight cable on the EVF because I have the ET mount... The Right angle connector gets jammed every time to move the EVF forward for Handheld...

In my opinion if you have the ET EVF mount use the straight end to it, it will get messed up if you are not very careful when using the right angle connector. Plus it can get jammed into the mattebox if the Operator requests the EVF closer to the body.

Oops...sorry for giving an unauthorised "official" answer! Just regurgitating what my "official" bomb rep told me.

Please don't push me down on the "official" RPPs waiting list!! :)
