Hi i have been around red user for a few year s, but have not owned a red yet .
i am buying one now, monday that is..

are there any red mx cameras , that are orphaned by red because of a upgrade to epic ??

i heard that this is a worry ..

anyone know the true story ?

could i get stuck with a red mx , that red wouldnt give updates and repairs { paid repairs obviously }??

what do you mean? The ones that were used as upgrades that owners kept in return for a discount are still capable of updates and repairs by RED. By "executed" it simply means it has been used for the upgrade and can not be used to upgrade to an Epic but that period is over anyways. Any camera you purchase you will have to send in for a transfer of ownership so you are able to update/repair the camera in the future and have the camera registered in your name. During that time RED will also check the camera and make sure it is functioning properly and replace (at cost) any faulty parts...

All of the RED Ones that were sent into RED towards the purchase of the EPIC still reside with RED and are not on the market...

Thanks Matt . What I meant , was what I asked .
I appreciate the info.

I was warned of this , and knew if I asked on this forum
that a person such as yourself would kindly answer.

Hey Chad,
I just got into the industry recently so I doubt we have met.

Did I at least answer your question?

There are some camera's that have voided their warranty with RED by installing a Birger lens mount so stay away from a camera with that mount or one who has used one in the past. But, I believe warranty periods on almost every Red One unless recently purchased new no longer has a warranty in place.

Once you send in the camera for the transfer of ownership they will issue you a short term warranty in case anything goes wrong after they have checked it out and made repairs if necessary.

Good luck and enjoy your RED!

thats great , thanks very much Matt
do
you know off hand what the transfer fee for red is ?
