Hello guys,

Just first want to say hi to everyone, I've been reading a lot of the threads here... very informative and very exciting especially since I've now got the money to purchase a Red camera.

As the title of my thread says, I've been having second thoughts on what to buy. Should I buy a Red One now or wait for the Epic? I pretty much have two goals in buying a Red: 1) to learn and specialize in it and 2) to hire it and hopefully make some money. Now the only thing keeping me back from buying one is that I figure if I buy a Red One now and maybe in a few months the Epic comes out those big rental houses can easily upgrade theirs and I'm left with the older model in which I think people won't want to use. It might take me some more time to get the money to upgrade to the Epic X so that means I might miss out on potential clients.

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance :)

Regards,

Mark

Dude, you get full purchase price trade in value for your ONE toward an EPIC-X with free goodies attached when it is available. Nothing to lose.

If you buy the Red One now, you'll have the option to upgrade to the Epic Special Edition when it comes out for the difference in price. In other words trade in your R1, get $17,500 off the price. In the meantime you get to learn the camera and then apply what you know to the Epic. If you can shoot now, make money now seems like the R1 is a great option. With the right knowhow you'll make great images with this camera for years to come.

buy a RED ONE, trade it in for full value when epic comes out. No reason NOT to buy a RED ONE :)

EDIT: lol, we all jumped on that one

Also I'd be aware that the idea of buying a RED ONE- especially in larger cities is not a guarantee of making money, especially renting it out.

The money part is secondary just thought it would be more practical to wait for the Epic.... but you guys sold me...I was leaning to grab the Red One anyways, just needed a little nudge...

thanks! :)
