  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

...but we still get HDR stills right???

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but with all the talk of whether or not the Scarlet gets the magic fantastic HDR whatchamacallit, I'm just wondering if we still get that HDR stills feature.

EDIT: Just in case you were wondering... it appears you CANNOT have emoticons in thread names... oh well.

I am 99.9% sure the answer is yes.

Every single frame from motion is just as good as a still, aside from shutter speed limitations.

You may be setting compression to lossless when shooting stills, but that's like the shutter, it isn't a camera limitation but a "usage" limitation.

Does it mean 32bit hdri or not?

I can't find any information about the HDR Stills Mode Deanan. Am I not looking hard enough?

I'm curious if it is an AEB function and if so.. can you explain the maximum number of frames in a bracket that can be captured and the EV stepping options between each frame? (for example: 15 aeb with steps from 1/3rd to 2EV between)

.... or is it a single burst capturing the full dynamic range a la Epic EasyHDR™™/HDRx™™, but for a single still?

We haven't talked about it yet.
Shooting a burst for stills will be very flexible.

Thanks David.

Deanan, does EPIC have a hard highest-bit-depth limitation? I suppose it might if the AD conversion is performed by a board. Or is the conversion performed by the ASIC?

A/D is done on sensor
Asic processing is 16bit

OK, so the sensor is on a board that creates the values out of the electrical signals created by the sensor itself, right?

But since the ASIC "only" processes up to 16bit, that means that we wouldn't be able to see the image if the sensor+board were be able to create 32-bit values, right?
