So I recently signed with a talent agency that reps DP's. I just wanted to get a feel for people on here with agents how much work I should be expecting to get through them directly on the first year. I know its probably going to vary like crazy per roster situation and agency connections, but more or less wanted to try and get a barometer on how satisfied I should feel in the upcoming months. Any info is greatly appreciated, Cheers!

Hi Kristopher

It's still going to be your reel that gets you the job, the agent mostly just submits your reel to producers / directors, they don't have much sway beyond that. Don't expect a radical change, the good thing that agents do is get you contacts outside your circle of people that you already know and work with.

Try to keep your agent updated with your new work and don't complain to them or ask them why you're not busy. They are going to put the most energy into DP's that earn them the most money and cause the least trouble, try to be one of those and if your work is solid you should be OK.

Hope this helps.

Matt is right on here. Also, make sure your reel lands as much stuff in the first 60-90seconds as possible and try to keep the entire thing under 2min. Save your name and contact for the end. I've watched many directors go through reels and begin fiddling around at about 1min in length, plus they already have the contact info. In & out quickly while leaving an impression!
