To work with full resolution files and .r3d natively, I'm considering putting together a PC. I have done some research and before pulling the trigger was wondering if I could pull together anymore info here. Anybody that has built a PC for similar reason have advice, tips, recommendations?

I've built my last 3 PC workstations from scratch, and am going on 3 years since my last build, having the wonderful ability to update as i would like.
One of the biggest things to look for at least for me during my last build is to buy into a motherboard system that has longevity and upgrade ability for the future.
Look at what current trends are for processor sockets and look at how long the socket will remain viable. Being able to upgrade your processors, ram and video cards in the future can add a lot of life to your system.

Someplace to start is tonymacx86.com, for preconfigured parts lists and builds, basically PC systems also compatible with the Mac OS along with Windows.
