  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 4 is almost here....

We are working on that.. wont be in this build but its a valid point..but there is no reason why you cant have both :)

Ive talked too alot of people about the perceived complexity of the Epic - And I am ofcourse infavor of having an advanced Camera system capable of doing the latest tech - but

Here in Scandinavia - alot of the features are simply to advanced for what most projects need, except the really big ones or 3d.

One solution could be a way to choose - a "simple" menu tree with the most basic stuff and "advanced" with all the 3d and sync and futuristic Space features. ?

Not yet... but there will be options to import/export user calibration files to/from the camera.

That is a very positive step forward. One reserve red for TL long exposures and one for 24fps normal shutter range would be perfect. It's great that one could be stored on the desktop and copied to a SSD for loading on an as needed basis.

very cool.

thanks.

The paint does let you see the new stuff a little more clearly :)

I'm surprised no one has asked this yet, but what does it say on top there? "Epic-S..."?

Take a close look at the screenshot Jarred posted. There is a new status entry on the bottom:

Hi Trent,

Please don't forget about the option (when assigning the feature to a button) to switch between the LCD with menus and full-screen LCD, without going through all the intermediary steps (left 3D, right 3D etc etc)

Thanks!

Has power management been addressed in this build? That would be awesome!

If you look at the screenshot Jarred posted you will see that the monitor mode and overlay type have been separated. There are only three modes (Clean, Overlay, Menus) that you need to cycle through now. The overlay type (left 3d, right 3d, standard, etc) are a separate setting.

That's great news! Thanks Trent.

The power management question has been elegantly avoided several times :-)
Did the RED TEAM have enough time to incorporate any improvements in this build?

i really like the old menu.... i hope when you say there is "speed ramps" that there is some sort of burst mode. I would be so happy to have a similar boost mode like an fs700. I love shooting 120fps on my Scarlet, but truthfully if there was a way to burst past that, even if it meant my roll times were short, I would love that man! I don't even care about audio blast those fans full and lets do some boosts! maybe the fans can buy us time until the sensor starts melting and permit slightly faster frame rate boosts?

So with this we can store a 24fps Black balance, then a 3k 48fps one then 5k 1fps one etc then just load them and the camera will be black balanced for these settings?

The black balance is based off of exposure and temperature. But yes, you could have a library of offline calibration settings capable of being imported and immediately applied to the camera or re-stored as the default calibration.

Interval timer = Awesome. I started shooting time-lapse on my epic a few weeks ago, and I will never go back to using a 5d. Love the fact you can select the number of frames too. I see two secs, can we do long exposures yet?
Pre role = Extra awesome! For shooting wildlife I don't have to JUMP every time an animal flinches.

Is power management built into this build?? Please say yes and we get 50% more battery life. Got to luck my gear up to the top of Kilimanjaro this year to film the crater at the top (along with a skyjib8), see need the best power life on my batteries, or will kill a few porters.

Great work everyone.
Love the flip screen, on top they bash into the sun roofs on safari landrovers.
