  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 4 is almost here....

Is this a new revision of the Epic? Or is this a new softwareversion plus a few new accessories?
Thanks.

It is a free software upgrade for Epic and Scarlet ... plus some new accessories.

Jarred on the New EVF mount does it move the EVF to the left like the spinner mount with the DSMC adjustable mount?

I love - LOVE new versions of the S/W. I know it bugs some people - but it is funny how fast the previous version can seem 'unusable' :-)

There are two lengths of the base swat dovetail..short ( seen here ) and long. Both versions you can slide out the evf to the left to wherever it is comfortable. The long one lets you use the EVF and slide on a LCD onto the dovetail...if you want. The spinner is a bit more flexible but adds alot more weight and bulk.

I asked a DP the other day, why don't you use the EPIC?
he siad...
"I don't even know how to turn the thing on let alone understand the ridiculously complex menu system, Alexa is so much easier"
Well he is right on that point...

Not that Im complaining, I understand it all. :)

Looking forward to the update. :)
Thanks Jarred

Thats Great News Jarred :)

Fantastic, it is an amazing experience to watch the RED Team and the RED product line evolve so fast with such quality.

Any company or organization that is able to respond so fast, with such vision to the needs and challenges of their environment
Will leave competitors in the dust.
Keep up the awesome work, For us there is no doubt that RED was the right digital cinema company source equipment from.

We are working on that.. wont be in this build but its a valid point..but there is no reason why you cant have both :)

+1 module is something I've been craving for since the first time I held the camera. The new build looks fantastic as does the new hardware in the works! So glad to be a customer of a company that truly looks at its clienteles needs and wants. Thank you.

Please continue to let us have the options. The ones that don´t understand the menues could hire a good AC, just saying...

Cheers, Ulf

Good!

The idea that Alexa "is simple and works" and the Epic is "hard and buggy" probably has had at least as much to say as many image tests when the decission has ended up being Alexa.

But then again, THAT has been Arris driving argument for the Alexa, even though it really isn't if you are to shoot offspeed (reboot to highspeed mode, anyone...) or you want to shoot RAW.

And I have watched how people fumble with the menus.

Userexperience is an important thing, too...
