  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 30... the Crossover build.

Default iso rating in the Mysterium is now 800? Is in the instructions, page 34.

ISO 800 is for M-X. M should be ISO 320. Maybe we should start calling it EI (exposure index) instead of ASA or ISO?

Just so everyone knows - this build allows you to select between NORMAL, FLIP H (Horizontal), FLIP V (Vertical), and FLIP H+V monitor path video orientation for 3D and crane work. A very handy little feature.

HD-SDI output

HD-SDI output

...it looks like you can now select a CLEAN out on SDI.. I could be wrong.. Don' t have a monitor around

Yes that's a clean feed output mode - i.e. it forces all the graphic overlays, including Look Around, off.

Note that the area of this HMDI / HD-SDI output will still be bigger than the actual recorded area.

Just an FYI with respect to it being a "beta" - we just wrapped a feature on the pre-release beta 30.2.4 - with no camera issues.

Default ISO rating

Default ISO rating

Both mysteriums are cited as 800.

Yes, at this point in the Beta firmware cycle we had to choose one default ISO rating for the camera to use on boot up.

Hence ISO 800 from Mysterium-X. We'll revert to ISO 320 as default for Mysterium prior to the official release build.

To put Mysterium back to ISO 320 as the default rating, manually dial it back to ISO 320 and then power cycle the camera.

Mark -thanks for that...I'm doing this now and I've got pick up shots to do in the AM with talent that is flying into town this evening...so naturally I'm a bit nervous, but am excited to give this a shot.

Exposure Tools for Build 30

Exposure Tools for Build 30

Exposure tools have changed in Build 30.

As a general rule the new REDcolor and FLUT Color Science prevent highlights not clipped at the sensor from clipping in the RGB domain, irrespective of the ISO rating. (Note: there are two parameters that operate post-FLUT and so can cause RGB clip)

A result of that, the multi-color false color overlay is now best used to check RGB video levels. There is a new dual-color false color overlay to indicate when sensor exposure is approaching clip (red) or noise floor (purple). In addition Edge Highlight is renamed Focus, which complete a triplet of false color modes - √V, √E and √F - available on a new User Key selection called MULTI.

The histogram remains as an RGB domain meter, but the Traffic Lights have been switched to RAW data, i.e. they now illuminate when the sensor RAW data is at clip, not when the monitor path RGB data is at clip. Also we added two bars at the left and right edge of the histogram to indicate the approximate amount of the image that is approaching the sensor noise floor or sensor clip.

Some examples of these new metering tools are in the VIEWFINDER and APPENDIX sections of the Build 30 Operations Guide.

What is interesting is when I booted up the native ISO rating was set to 800. I put it back to 320. Then it was very very dark. When I put it back at 800, it appears to be what I'd consider a normal R1 view on the exposure.
