  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 21...

I love 4.5k. It's going to be my new preferred method. I love the extra sensor real estate and the ultra wide look.

Any idea when Apple & Adobe will begin supporting?

SATA_error

SATA_error

Any chance this new build solved the various SATA ERRORS.
I know one is meant to send in the drives and cables...

It does revert SATA_TRANS error reporting to Build 17 / 18 behavior; but as we have mentioned if you saw any SATA errors you should contact RED technical support to arrange for inspection of both your SATA cable and RED-DRIVE.

Does anyone know if RED will release a 4.5K 16:9 or 2:1 mode ?
Don't even know if it' possible...

Thats gonna hafta wait for Epic... RED ONE just cant handle the required extra bandwidth.

The RECODE RAW codec was updated to reflect the new color science.. so viewing QuickTime proxies should match to RED Alert!

REDCODE RAW codec v3.9.0 is recommended for Build 20 and 21 footage.

It's included in the Build 21 Beta camera firmware download, but is also available from www.red.com/support site

God I love you guys.

Thank you so much.

great news... Thanks again

guys I have a very stupid question..
is the 4.5K RC42 recording available for the current Mysterium sensor OR only restricted to the Mysterium X upgrade to red one and the b21 upgrades will use RC42 on the same res options available now.. aka 4K 4Khd .. etc..

4.5K upgrade

4.5K upgrade

Its available as a no-cost downloadable firmware upgrade for any existing RED ONE camera Mohammed.

i.e just download Build 21 and you should be good to go.....

Is there an (approximate) ETA for when the 4.5k R3D will be supported in AE CS4 or Color 1.5 ? (AE tries (& crashes) and Color is unclear what to do with the R3Ds).

Cheers

PS : 4.5k looks GREAT on wides ;-)

One request for a future enhancement:

This weekend during a shoot, the director and continuity wanted to look at a previous take.

But... they wanted to look at clip 26 ( out of a total of 120 clips).

So I had to keep clicking on the "previous" button 94 times to get to it.
And when it did get back to clip 26, the screen juat kept "flashing" for about 2 minutes before it would allow us to watch the clip.

Could you implement an easier way to view clips please?

Thanks,
Antony

perhaps an overview of all the clips in rows of 4 or something like that with labels under them? Just a thought, like the idea of easily cruising through to the clips that were shot earlier then doing that '94 times' sort of thing...

@Antony I haven't actually done the going through the clips thing but surely if you go from 120 -> then it would go back to 1? (not saying though that clicking 26 times is any better but just an odd thought)

Just curious, will you still be able to use the same cine lenses from 4K mode under the new 4.5K mode, since now the sensor is larger?
I've done some shots with RPP with no problems.
Another thing:
4.5K WS is 4480x1920=8601600 pixels
4K 16:9 is 4096x2304=9437184 pixels
So from pixels resolution point the 4k 16:9 format has more resolution. Is it correct?
Anyway I love build 21 and the new format is very cinematic.

Is there a physical limitation preventing 4480x2304 = 10321920
