I recently rented a red one (build 20) and conducted about 10 interviews for a documentary. After the first day, i found that all the footage was black in Red Cine and Red Alert, but not on the camera.
After consulting the forum, I found the problem, which was that a bug in build 20 made all the settings for RGB be -100 by default for each clip. Relieved i continued on, knowing that I'd be able to figure things out later.
Now, I have recently purchased Final Cut Studio 3 in order to be able to ingest these clips without having to transcode, but they're coming in black, and I'd like to somehow fix the R3D files in their native state before they get to Final Cut.
I'm sure this has been a common issue, so I'm wondering what the conventional wisdom is on this?
How do you recommend adjusting all the -100 settings back to 0?
is there a way to open the .R3D files, make this quick fix, save them again, and then ingest into FCP? Or is there a reliable fix in FCP?
