Build 17 issues. . . not major but informational only

I just upped the ante to Build 17, and today, while shooting I had several failure to boot incidents ("boot hangups") and one "post hangup" where the camera did not come out of post after a shot. The latter point was a bit disturbing since this particular camera has never before hung up on post after a shot, although my other camera certainly has.

Anyway, I'm now confident that Build 17 did not adequately address the post issue (and, indeed, may have made it worse, since this camera had never failed at post before) and clearly has a significant issue with booting. I may have had as many as five boot hangups today.

Are boot hangs considered something that Red can fix? We have them occasionally and I'd gotten the impression from other posts the occasional boot hang was just a part of life at the moment.

I'm not seeing this at all. I DO see it sometimes when someone powers up the camera IMMEDIATELY after powering down.

Yes, you still have to wait a few seconds (10 is ideal) to avoid that particular issue...

Yup. Another RED owner told me the sooner I get used to this the better.

My camera hangs on boot every now and then with 10+ sec wait. It is very random. Happens with both B16 and B17. I have just accepted it as part of the camera.

I have not had a post hang for a long time.

Same here. Not a problem, really--I'm used to it. Once it happened repeatedly (build 16 release version) and the only thing I could do to get it to go was to reboot after 1 second. Bizarre.
