Anyone else see artifacts like this on Build 17 2k 16:9 redcode28? I shot hours of 4k HD with no problems now this. I have a help ticket into RED but thought I would see if anyone else has these issues in the mean time.

CF Issue

CF Issue

That's a hardware problem, not firmware. Its most likely a failed CF Reader / Writer module.

It could also be a bend pin on, or a loose e-SATA interface cable to, the CF Reader / Writer module.

RED technical support will be able to help you.

Talking with RED tech already. You guys are fast!

Thanks,

Ronx.

That is some "harshifacting".

bummer.

Not sure it can be attributed to any particular build, feeling more like a hardware fault by the day. Had been thinking codec, I don't know. Please go away dithering.
Returning Reds to the states is a pain and will lose me jobs and money, but looks likely. My bad mood today isn't all down to my Red, but it ain't helping. Once I know its not a codec problem requireing a new "unavailable" brain module, and it goes away, I'll be happy.
The footage above was taken while a client was testing the camera in handheld mode. The client had just passed me the camera to hold so they could answer their phone, so I just swung it at the nearest duck, but accidentally hit the side record button. If I hadn't, it wouldn't have been recorded

If that same problem is recurring between builds then I think it might be a hardware thing. Especially if it is in the same part of the frame.

I love my RED ONE®. I might be their happiest customer.

David

Possible Codec Error

Ronx,

Sincere apologies that you are having issues. To address your question -

There were major improvements in compression between Build 15 and 16, but Builds 16 and 17 (and now 18) are the same.

The above example sure does not look like a compression related problem.

Please discuss this further with RED tech support.
