  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 16 Preview...

Are we to expect a new de-bayering algorithm or a VBR increase say to 50MB/s in Build 16? A well known LA Dp would say Redcode 36 is "too burny"...

Your at the half-way mark in a 4k Marathon, Congrats!

I have to laugh at this one...sorry. Another well known LA Dp just showed two movies at Cannes to "ooohs and ahhhhs" shooting REDCODE 24 (not REDCODE 28) on pre-production prototypes.

But you are right... we still have a long way to go.

What does "too burny" mean? Can you be a bit more specific on that?

i assumed it meant too compressed, "burned in", less room to play with. could be wrong.

regardless i feel this is missing the point. of course, a higher bit rate option i suppose wouldn't be a bad thing, but then whats the point of putting in all this extra work?

I'm super excited about getting these improvements so i can still use the lowest bit rate with even more amazing results :) If they can squeeze a higher bit rate out of the hardware as well, cool.

Sounds like good work on build 16. Im really hoping Redcode is more optimised with the rebuild. Any chance that build 16 is faster at playback in Redcine/FCP?

CHINA can build a Cinema Screen bigger than any countries in the world.

What about a RDCC in the T.Men Square for some CHINA's revoutionary histories in 4K quality ? May I silly to ask whether REDCODE 24 can handle that size of screen with no artifacts ?

You may say I am dreamer but I am not the only one in the 1.3 billion population people nation.

My Best.-

give us 50 mb/s redcode pleaase.. not too much to ask half of scarlet's.

Low light in Venice!

Low light in Venice!

Jim,

Begging - hands and knees.
Any chance of a beta to test of build 16. Am in Venice - Italy for 3 days to shoot time-lapse of Rialto bridge and St. Marks square at night.
Would Loooooove to shoot for longer without decending into noise.

Pretty please with ice-cream on top?

let me know..
pm me if you need something...

Use better optics to compensate the Build 15 ........artixxx...

As always, optics come 1st then Sensor > format > uncompressed or compressed Codec and storage etc.

Help themself to help some somebody in the " Public Victory Deal " world, am I sayiing "Fair Trade" deal here under RED Blood Sky ?

Burning out is in reference to clipping your highlights. So, when your highlights go bleach white with no information they are referred to as 'burnt out', because they are white hot. 'Too burny' then is footage that has a lot of burnt / clipped highlights, either because it hasn't been exposed correctly or the grading job was poor. Often it's bad exposure / control of highlights when shooting!
