"Le Troisième Jardin" or "The Third garden" directed by Pierre Desgranges

I was the DP and we choosed to go ahead with sweet 16, boy and that sure was sweet.

Only natural light, it really was much much darker than this by the eye, the camera under build 16 sees "a lot" of details in the shadows.

Dynamic range is quite awesome, to say the least.

Did I mentioned we had a ball?

Thank you Jim for making this possible, everyone on set was feeling gratefull to you, from make-up to wardrobe to the drivers, the actors, everybody around the shoot.

What a feeling!

Emmanuel

Emmanuel, these images are not only a testament to the camera and build 16, but as DP, to you as well. You obviously know how to get the best from the camera.

Your comments are much apreciated here, thank you guys, I could feel this whole community pushing behind me, trying to get the best of "our" camera.

Wow, those are truly epic shots, especially the third one down of the second set, it looks like a painting to me. Well done! :weight_lift:

Hi Emmanuel. Great shots. I'm interested in what this camera (with a competent DP) can achieve with available light. Would you mind posting what lense you were using and to what degree these images have been through post.

That's where the deal gets even better… the lens is a 18-50 Red Zoom.

The post for those stills is just going through RedCine (I wish ISO was fixed because it works amazingly well in RedAlert) and then doing slight changes in Aperture. I wish I could find an easy way to send those tiff in Color.

As for low light, I couldn't believe all the details I could pull from those shots, especially with the ISO setting in RedAlert.
The noise is now totally different very very close to film and very low unless you shoot at night (not dusk nor dawn) with no lights at all.

Build 16 is the deal for me, I am totally sold, the Revolution won't stop anytime soon, brothers:red_bandana:

Breathtaking Emmanuel! Kudos to the Red Zoom, but most importantly to the DP who knows how to use it.

This looks to me to be my favorite RED footage up to date congrats!!!

I totally agree with you about the noise. I did a test the other day and it completely looked like film grain instead. Now that is a quantum leap forward since it allows you to dig a little in those shadows. Before it had the compression issues that made that difficult.

Again! Congratulations and good luck! Can't wait to see some actual footage asap.

Congratulations emmanuel, great choose of locations and time of the day, for sure makes interesting the b16. The noise pattern is much better no doubt.
Could you share a r3d or a playing image?
Has anybody done comparison tests between 15 and 16? somewhere posted the r3d?
Jon, now in mexico.

Same compliments here.

Emanuel :-)
