Anyone using build 15 for commercial work? I have a couple of commercial gigs coming up, and I want to use build 15 for a variety of reasons.

My tests have shown no real problems shooting 2:1 4K, 3K,2K. I am getting some very nice results from Red Alert. I can't make Red Cine work... everything freezes.

I'd love to hear some real world experiences. Yes I know it's beta, but I don't want to go back to build 13.

Build 15 is Super! I have shot with Build 15, then on to Red Cine & Red Alert. No Problemo! Just bring Build 13 and 15 download on 2 separate SD cards, for easy reload, just in case. But I had no problems so far. Among the dozen new features, I love the 3K, auto fan, dual simultaneous displays, and 120 FPS best! Red is an absolute blast! I just had to buy another Red camera yesterday, just for fun!

I had a shoot today with build 15 shooting 4K 16X9, redcode 28, 23.98 and had "codec error" messages come up when shooting anything with lots of movement.... waterfall and palm trees blowing in the wind. If I shot with the cap on or recorded non-moving objects the camera would handle it. I had to go back to my office and reload build 13 to get everything to work. I called Red and talked with the guys at tech support, they said they heve not seen this before, but I would not use build 15 again until they work out kinks!

yes. apparently 16:9 4k is disabled. this was a surprise to me as well. i'm sure it was written somewhere but I think I thought they were talking about the quicktime support. caused a major delay in our day. luckily we were just testing but it was embarrassing for us to those who came by to check it out.

i never thought that they would release a build even if it was beta that didn't support 16:9. this dependance on 2:1 is ridiculous. it's a great aspect ratio aesthetically but really only storaro and RED are the only ones that have pushed it. it is not common at all. sure 2.35 can be used out of it but cmon RED.

i'm starting to recall that post by jim that stated his love for 2:1. it's making me think that he was just getting us ready for what they would be able to support for awhile. the 16:9 quicktime wrapper delay has become a real pain in the ass as well and certain jobs are falling by the wayside because of it. please guys. you couldn't do this soon enough.

i know you know so ........ nevermind. just frustrating.

I shot a commercial last week on build 15 because we needed the 3k and monitor output. We had some problems but nothing major.

- Flickering monitor - we checked and it wasn't in the footage
- unable to select slower shutter speeds than 1/50 at 25 fps but we could work around that by shooting varispeed mode
- either the display is slow updating info or sometimes it is difficult to select shutter speeds and frame rates

I'm having the same flickering monitor problem on occasion but a reboot fixes that. and no, it is not on the footage.

Here is a question though. Is 113fps the fastest i can go to the CF in 2k. I can't hook up the drive because I don't have an f'ing cable. but I was just trying to se why it tops out there.
