Hey Guys,

Wanted to see if you have had this issue in Color 1.5/ I import a REDCODE file into FCP. Edit the Native file, send to Color, Color grade, render out Prores 422 HQ, send back to FCP but the color is not the same as I saw in Color.

My calibrated broadcast monitor is just not seeing the same images program to program. I rendered in ALL the quicktime codecs, DPX, Floating Point, etc. I'm lost. Is this a bug you guys have come into? I tried RED footage shot on Build 17 and Build 20.

Any ideas?

Confirm. Only if you use Log&Transf NOT in native mode (es. with PRORES 444...) the clip remain exactly the same when return in FCP. I've discover that if you push (in native mode L&T) in Color the master gamma at 1.270.... or near this value... the return clips seem identical.

...yes sorry value should be 1.171...but mine is a valutation "at eye". I've try various values until clip after color rendering seem identical at original in FCP timeline in native mode.

Thanks guys but I'm confused. Where should I do a gamma off set? The image should be exactly the same in both programs. Is this a bug? I never had this issue in the last version of Color.

Thanks!

Hi Alex

I don't know if is a bug...probably.

Test this: load a RED clip in native mode with L&T in a FCP project.Send the clip to COLOR. Do nothing. If you render only the clip (without any correction !!! ) and re-send to FCP the clip is different from orginal in FCP. Ok!?
Now do the same (don't touch Camera Raw in COLOR...) but on the clip apply only in primary room of COLOR a master Gamma value of 1.171...Only this... Render now and re-send to FCP.

Is different or very near identical at original in FCP ??

Still doesn't work. It's still substantially off. I'm on the phone with Apple. I'll let you guys know what they said.

The color is still off when I just render out the raw file with no color grade.

...Sorry I not understand..

If you send a clip to color and render it without touch any control in COLOR the clip that return in FCP is different from original in FCP... and this is no right.

Correct!

It seemed to be the Force RGB button was clicked in Color. Once that was removed it was fine.
