Just had the worst experience - need to vent. Was asleep in my room 3:30 am in Budapest, heard a noise - looked down from my loft/bed and saw a guy standing by the bedroom door. Jumped down - guy slammed door in my face breaking its window - I ran after him but he got away. I'm off to the hospital for stiches in my feet from running over the glass - can barely walk. Guy (cigany) just jimmied the latch (bars were not locked). Guess I'll put up signs to buy it back around the neighborhood. Not much hope.

They got my brand new (less than 2 weeks old) MBP 17" - two camera bags, one with 2x hv20's - wide angle lenses - good mics / xlr audio adaptors - accesories/etc) - and in the other a EOS 30d with a nice zoom and worst of all my beloved leica M2 with the collapsible 50mm given to me by my grandfather. No insurance on any of it. Info was on external esata (full doc feature) but what a cracked thing. I guess my red will never be coming home with me - ever.

Cannot tell you what a bad feeling to wake up with someone in the flat.

basszmeg basszmeg basssssszmeeeeeeeg

That doesn`t sound nice. Your probably suffering a bit of post traumatic shock right now, I hope the stuff is insuranced and you have some company

So sorry to hear about that. Remember though that in the end it is only stuff and can be replaced...you are still here...and alive!

Sorry to here about your loss but Getken is right. it might suck really bad but
looking on the bright side is better than wallowing in hate for the thieves.
glad to hear you are safe.

Nooooooo! Still, you could have been MUCH worse off than foot stitches...

And also, it could have happened AFTER you received your RED!

I feel for you. Best of luck!

Jim

P.S. Love Budapest by the way. Great place(s)

My Glock 21 is in reach of where I sleep. I would not have to run through glass and would not think twice about taking action on someone that broke into my home.

Sorry about your bad luck. At least it was not your Red. Getting a big dog may be a help?

ah man. that sucks. sorry bro.

I have a samurai sword.

Very sorry to hear what happened. Hopefully stuff can be recovered.

camera equippment always in a big heavy safe, the best insurance. noone can carry this, noone can open it except with dynamite:construction:

Lonesillver, I feel sorry for you, what a bad luck. This just makes me boil inside when I hear bad news like this.

A big heavy safe is somewhat of an inconvenience when travelling...

Finner, did you know that having a gun in your home actually increases the chances of you getting killed during a burglary?

Yes, but it decreases the chances for burglary in general.
There are more than few counties (districts) in US that it is mandatory to have gun at home, guess what, these counties have lowest burglary rate in US.
Bad guy will always figure out how to get the gun illegally.

Plus sport shooting / training, calms your nerves, it is like spa for the women.

Sounds like it increases the burglar's chances of getting killed. lol.

Anyway.. Sorry to hear this. I can only imagine how I would feel if my gear was stolen or broken. I had some gear dropped and malfunction a couple months ago. It's a good thing I know a good technician ;)

Insurance! Insurance! Insurance! Number one rule for owner/operators. We had a customer recently who lost several hundred thousand dollars worth of gear in the Universal Studios backlot fire... Insurance is priceless!

Security is so much more a priority for us RED owners. Everytime I read one of these threads it reawakens me to the need to make proper precautions. Thank you for posting your experience... albeit terrible indeed this time will pass.
