Hey guys, I've decided to get into the red accessories game.

I've started a camera parts company with a robotics engineer who does contract work for NASA and DARPA. We're based in Brooklyn, NY.

Company name is BSRT (Bedford-Stuyvesant Research Technology).

We will demonstrate a follow focus system at the NAB Red User event that rivals the Arri FF4 and FF5 in terms of build quality and bests them in terms of functionality. Pricing will be under $3000 for a full system with two knobs, 15mm and 19mm support and whip and crank. It's gonna be sweet.

In the meantime, we decided to just bash out a couple of parts for fun.

We have an EVF Guard and Focus Hook set available for sale.

The EVF guard is a single piece unlike some competing products, so no tiny parts to fiddle with and/or lose when you're installing.

The focus hook is an improvement over the existing red version in that it has a hook large enough to accommodate a professional fiberglass tape and is centered on the sensor. It also provides a haptics benefit in that you can locate the side buttons without looking and provides protection against accidental presses.

These are limited edition pieces and we probably won't make any more. If you like it, buy it now.

$125 for the set of both parts. Shipping is on the house.

Email me on bkred@me.com and I'll send you a paypal invoice.

Looks really cool Clayton.

Hope you have been well. Long time no chat.

Clay, I must say that the build quality of your EVF Guard is outstanding. Very well thought out and extremely strong for its size and weight. Beautiful.

Use it in good health, sir. :sifone:

I'm using two of each gaurd on this recent commercial project. Very cool. Worth a little bread to never bump those buttons again. All CNCed aluminum. Nice build quality. I'll post some pics in a bit.

I saw a preview of the follow focus. It's definitely the real deal in terms of design and build quality. Real bearings, real machining. More on this once I get to test it.

Can't wait to get these!

Looking forward to this. I gotta a few cool projects we could battle test your FF on ...

Is it better than union shows shooting on Panavision? Cause I got that lined up. :sifone:

I'd like to endorse these parts very enthusiastically.
Clayton gave me an EVF guard and Focus Hook for testing, and they'll now never come off. I especially like being able to easily feel the REC and user buttons without fumbling around, meaning that I can quickly check focus with zoom, or use zebras just before it's time to roll.
They're precisely manufactured, and great value.
Good luck with this, Clayton.

Come by and trade your protos for some real ones sometime.

Wow I just got this set today. What a perfect experience. Not only are these things priced nicely, they ship promptly. If only other Red accessorys were the same.

The build quality is great, each piece is machined down to conserve on weight, but not so much as to weaken them structurally. They really are well balanced in that regard. The finish is very nice and seems durable, they fit on the camera perfect and seem to do their job very well.

I'm very pleased, thanks Clayton for making this happen!

Can I swing by the laboratory and pick them up in person? I'm just down the street, Fort Greene. PM me or just reply back on the thread with details.

Excited about all the announcements, have been looking for the right FF a long time now...keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Clint
