Just read that it was shot on RED ONE - apparently Panavision provided the cameras from what I read - at 4K in an article about it's production and virtual sets.

It will air on SyFY in Feb. and the home video version (Blu-Ray/DVD) will be a 7 minute longer uncut version.

For those of you who haven't seen it, you can watch the whole thing on Machinima Prime's YouTube channel in 1080p HD. It looks pretty damn good. If you have a Smart HDTV or Blu-Ray player that has YouTube, you can watch it on there too and it will look even better.

Here's the article!

Here's Blood and Chrome!

HUGE BSG fan here, and it's a great series. Watched the whole thing on youtube. it lost a little bit of its magic becauase of the heavy CGI opposed to real locations and amazing art direction of the early 2000's series. But the core of it is still BSG and a lot better than what they did their Caprica series. Unfortunately I've read that this is the end of it, SyFy will not be syndicating the series past this extended pilot. Hopefully it gets enough ratings on TV to change their minds. It's a really great prequel series to one of the best science fiction shows out there. Although I did enjoy the overall look and feel with the R1 opposed to the f900 look the earlier series was shot in. If it does magically get picked up, I'm hoping more budget goes back into art direction and they cut down on the green screen and cgi.

I was wondering what happened to this and when/where it was going to be aired. Does the online version have the extra 7mins?

Hah! It's SyFy.

The online version is the broadcast version. The Blu-Ray is uncut, has strong language and several minutes of extra footage, but we don't know what that means though I'm certain there is also some nudity in there as well because it was intended to be a video production and not a cable TV thing. The whole pilot airs at the end of Feb but nobody has nailed down an exact date. You can just buy the Blu-Ray/DVD on the 19th of Feb. If there are strong sales, we might get more. Maybe once a year or something.

they never used to be like that, farscape, BSG, all the stargates (although I only thought stargate universe was the good one) had pretty vast production value. location work, real sets, amazing props and costume/makeup. but than again CGI just wasn't as good or as cheap back than as it is now, and it's all about the bottom dollar which is a shame. If you pay attention in BSG, all the vipers slowly get worn down more and more every episode, to the point where they have to use foam sealing to keep the cockpits with pressure. small details like that really make any show. i guess we won't be seeing that again, at least not anytime soon. Sometimes the cheaper for more part doesn't always add up the right way. but blood and chrome still stands by good writing, and solid actors, not as amazing as the cast of the original series, but it had potential. anybody who's a BSG fan should def watch this during it's air in feb. and pick up the blu ray while your at it! hopefully enough ratings will push NBC/SyFy to change their minds. fingers crossed.

Just wanted to remind everyone to watch B&C this weekend. The Uncut Blu-Ray hits later this month.

I was watching the B&C VFX feature on the Blu-Ray and it looks like the final product - VFX and all - was rendered at 720p and then upscaled to 1080p like they did with the series VFX. How sad.
