  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bruce Willis is allowing himself to be deepfaked

Marc,

Yeah, I'm not against new tech that could help tell stories in ways never thought of or even dreamed of only a decade or so ago. I'm not against tech that makes it safer and more convenient for human actors to do their jobs on set. But as you stated, I'll always be against any technology that puts people out of work. I understand that improvements in technology and other more efficient time saving approaches will come and be implemented, but that change should come with the inclusion of those individuals whose livelihoods will be adversely affected.

I also saw multiple articles also saying that Bruce didn't sign over the rights to his image to DEEPCAKE.. I believe even DEEPCAKE agreed to that fact and stated that only Bruce Willis had the rights to his likeness.

Digital cameras did that to corner photo labs and some camera stores and who knows what else. Electronics did that to switchboard operators. E-commerce did that to some retailers. Etc, etc, etc.

As much as I dislike the notion of digitally cheating a real actor's work, I have to reluctantly concede there is a near-to artistic craft involved. Maybe in the future, Bruce Willis might derive some satisfaction if able to keep his hand in by posing for key frames in an AI rendition of a character "played" by him. Years ago, an Australian Actor Norman Kaye suffered a severe dementia-related decline. His long time director, the late Paul Cox, cast Kaye as a relative in a wedding scene, more or less as an extra. Somehow and from somewhere, in spite of his affliction, Kaye became prompted to throw in an ad-lib line during a take which fitted the scene.
