I had a Red-brick that came back from a job recently with a broken plastic V-mount (Pictured in link below on the right).

The folks in Lake Forest have told me I'm S-O-L on getting a replacement through them, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source to get a replacement.

The battery is kosher otherwise, so I'd hate to have to replace this because of a $.30 piece of plastic.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

Rob,

I believe this plastic mount is identical to the metal v-mounts found on Element Technica and IDX's v-mount battery plates and any other v-lock related product. It should be a simple swap. Though having never actually done it myself, perhaps not. Contacting either company and getting their opinion should have you quickly sorted out.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. The one's that RED use have special pocketing in the back to go over the bosses that are on the battery, and the mounting hole spacing and size are different.

Sorry we can't be of more assistance on this one!

Hmm....

Anybody got a dead brick they want to sell me?

Call your rep - I'm sure they can help you out. If not then call Blueshape who originally made these batteries.

Hi Rob,

We can fix it if you would like. It's not as simple as it sounds though. Our batteries have pems in the housing, so you can simply remove the screws and screw the clip back in.

RED bricks have nuts on the back side. You need to open up the battery, remove the tape holding down the reed switches, then hold the nuts in place, while screwing in the new v-clip. It's a pita, but can be done.

Kind of crummy RED won't help you out. It's a simple, non-electrical component and repair.

I already PM'ed Rob last night over this and I did offer to help him out. Consider the "crumminess" negated.
