Apple is the most valuable company in the world. Is it because they make the best computers and continue to give you more for less? NO. It's because they continue to sell little electronic doodads that we can't live without. i.e. iPod, iPad, iPhone etc…. Do I bitch about it? You're damn skippy, I do. Do I hate them for it? NO. In fact, I keep buying their stuff over and over again just like every other Apple fan out there. I say RED should take this play from APPLE's playbook and run with it….

Bring back the RED camera that "fits in your pocket"

Leave the price of the big boys where they are and sell a gazillion pocket cameras. I believe it would work, mainly because (just like Apple) RED already has an accepted infrastructure (REDCODE WORKFLOW) in place.

How'd ya like to have a tiny little pocket sized RED camera that shoots 4K REDCODE RAW that could go on your RC HELI / CRASHING CAR / FLYING SNOWBOARDER …etc etc etc

Wanna make it obsolescence proof? Give it a new sensor every couple or three years.

Wanna make more money off of it? Sell me AKS.

There are other companies out there coming up with little tiny pocket cameras that have CMOS sensors and shoot RAW. Why can't RED do this? If they did, I know which company I'd go with. :yesnod:

.PS ...in case you have any doubts, it would be RED. ... I'd go with the RED pocket camera.

Agree fully!
It sure would be better than GoPro, which unfortunately dominates this segment of the industry right now.

Sure, GoPro has its flaws, but they're doing a lot of things right. Picked up a Hero3 Black at BestBuy last week. The cameras I ordered on GoPro.com after the announcement were delivered today. Well, some of them, I have a couple more coming tomorrow. Love these little cameras. It's funny, other than timelapse I'm shooting primarily on the Nikon D3 and D800, I shoot everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, on RED [EPIC] and GoPro. All my other cameras are collecting dust these days.... OK, you got me, I occasionally use the camera in my phone...

Anyway to keep it on topic, I support this! Scarlet was originally announced way back when... It was supposed to be a "professional pocket camera". I would still like to see a "professional pocket camera". I even have an idea of what it should look like, how it should work, etc.. And I know it's possible. At 4K+ resolution. The GoPro Hero3 isn't too far off the mark, but it know the concept could be done better and would love to see RED do it.

But the real question is, would it actually produce a significant amount of good content? I bet way more people watch footage on a daily basis from the 20,000 or so Red cameras than from the few million go pros.

Does that matter? There will always be the potential to shoot great things with any camera, but much of it will always be crap.

I keep dreaming up a super-light hand held stills and 24 frames only Red camera

Like you said
- Red Raw
- STILLS
- 24fps if possible..

but way lighter than Epic/Scarlet

Basically save me from going outside of RED for a stills cam to go with my Scarlet
and every reduser as well as others would buy it if it was only a little bigger than a GoPro
.. Maybe I am talking about two kinds of cameras
A Red stills cam and a Red GoPro

That will be cool, but I prefer 48FPS with 4K and 35mmFF and HDRX. Hope it will come out in 4 years with semiconductor tech improvement.

Agreed

Agreed

I absolutely agree. I would much prefer a RED workflow to a camera that can fit in my purse over the Go Pro. RED should jump on that "apple" bandwagon.:yesnod:

I'd love to see the old Scarlet or facsimile released. Maybe we could get a S16 sensor with 4K resolution based on the Dragon design.

dude just buy a BT redone, its not small by any means but its really close to the 3k for 3k price point with wayyyy better specs. not sure how to kit one for a purse tho lol...
