  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Many of you have seen my review on the Bright Tangerine "Strummer" mattebox. It's no secret that I absolutely love that mattebox. However, Bright Tangerine have several matteboxes in their line up. I've gotten many questions on the other models. (I'm working on doing a review for each one...) The next in the line up is VIV! It's a clamp on system that can use all flavors of rod mounts too! Just like Strummer, it can change the number of filter stages one wishes to use. It has a quick release flag system, and it's rather ingenious. Most importantly... It covers completely in full frame 5K! It's loaded with features...

There are several folks here on RedUser who own VIVs and are using them every day in the field! They are becoming as popular as the Strummer for folks who don't need a swing away feature and prefer a lighter option.

I wish I made that kind of dough! I'm a crew of one! I do these to help out other folks... I'm the guy all my friends turn to, when they want to know about new gear... so I decided to make one of these for my Strummer... Next thing I know... I'm getting asked to do reviews on all sorts of stuff... More are on the way!
 
Damn Curt.. Awesome review! Had the credit card ready half way through the review ready to to purchase... waited for the 1-800 number to come up, then realized I can't afford it just yet :(

Quick Q: When you had the bellows on you seemed to be running 3 stages as well. If you run 2 satges (PV) and the 138 bellows does it vignette on the 17-50...

With 2 stages, it's cleaner, yes! Very slight vignetting at 17mm with the rubber bellows ONLY... pull the bellows, and it's clean all the way!
