Hey folks,
I know several of you our there are like me, and are using the VIV mattebox by Bright Tangerine. I really love the mattebox, it's light, has several rotating filter stages, and can convert anywhere from 1-3 filter stages. In addition, it's also a "clamp on" or rod mount mattebox supporting all flavors of rods, Light weight support, 15mm & 19mm studio.
Viv has an extremely wide field of view! It can accommodate a 14mm lens (Cooke S4 tested) in 4:3 on a Super 35mm sensor! If you're a person who likes to use "rods" for your mattebox, and I'm one of them, you probably picked up a set of Chorsziel "Vari-Tubes" to use with your VIV. These rods have a "telescoping" ability and they're terrific! I have two pair myself (pun totally intended!).
Bright Tangerine are one of those companies that not only listen to the end user, they try to accommodate us in every desire too! They've just announced their "Forx" 15mm light weigh support rods! These have been designed to allow the rods to pass through/under the rod adapter/mattebox! Essentially, they have a "slot" cut out of them, to allow them to pass under the sunshade. These are very cool! I can't wait to get a set for my VIV.
From what I understand, the folks at Bright Tangerine will have these on hand for you to view for yourself at CineGear 2013. I've also been told they're "ready to go" for sale too! Hopefully, I can get a set while at the show!
There's a picture of them on their website if you'd like to take a look: http://brighttangerine.com/product-...derneath-viv-and-viv-5--length-3.5/205/2/5/45 I've added an image as well.
