Hi everyone
Since purchasing the viv matte box from BT we have been trying to configure our current camera build with the swing away mount.
We just purchased the RED adapters necessary to configure our rails from 15mm studio support to 15mm lightweight support in order to orient the Viv with optical center. http://www.red.com/store/products/epic-mounting-plate-pack-modular-m http://www.red.com/store/products/dsmc-15mm-adaptor-centered
Now our challenge is to pick a rail length that will accommodate our Oconnor follow focus, the swing away mount and our set of Leica R lenses. The length of the lenses varies from 4 inches to 3 inches which could be the problem as the focus ring does not sit in the same spot forcing me to move the FF front to back.
If I cut the rails to accommodate the longest lens then the then the matte box will make contact with the rails when I switch to a shorter lens. And vise versa. We are hopeful that we will be able to make the swing away work with the follow focus and Leica’s.
Have any of you ever run in to this before or am I missing something very obvious?
Is there a rail length that you could recommend for this configuration?
Please see attached photos. I do appreciate your time and feedback.
