  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bright tangerine Matte box?

One of the LARGEST benefits for going Misfit Atom is that it is smaller, lighter and the shade part is made of a rubber material.

When shooting "major sports" like the NBA or NFL... You have a chance of getting hit. After a big name player ended up going through the photographer zone at an NBA game last year, they started asking all the courtside photogs to "get smaller." Further, they asked us to ENSURE we wouldn't hurt the players... so matteboxes had to go! But the Misfit is allowed! ;) I'm using mine MORE and MORE these days!

It's AWESOME for Gimbal work, because it's so darned light! It doesn't have 'traditional' filter trays, but you can stack two filters in it! You can also TILT the filters if you are getting a flare/glare to eliminate it! The Misfit Atom CLAMPS on, but can expand to use rods, if you want! I love that it can expand to a 'larger' system if you want... or you can keep it nice and small. You'll need the appropriate rings if using it in clamp on mode and using different lenses with it... but that's not a big deal.

I think it's an awesome value! Cant' go wrong!
 
I'd love the Misfit but I always need at least one rotating stage for grads and the price increase and size increase for the Viv kit makes it a bit much for me.

So looking at the WC mattebox or the Tilta MB-04
 
thanks for the insight. So, I think I'll go wtih the misfit atom. linked below is one that is $300 off. any drawbacks of going with this one? seems I can add the brack at the bottom for fairly cheap(correct me if Im wrong.. just wondering if this specific one is half off for a reason? Also, I will need step down ring for each of my lenses, correct?

i have the misfit Atom and the normal Misfit.

most of the time i just have the misfit with me. especially if i do run and gun stuff.
Its lightweight, fast and the clamp on system works really well.
