  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bridge CS5

does Bridge CS5 open/play R3D files?

is there a PC version of REDrushes to batch convert r3D files?

can Adobe media encoder do this?

Mike

My Bridge CS5 does'nt see R3Ds.
I have batched succesfully with Redcine and Cineform; AME CS5 is super fast and precise in encoding but i had to add each R3D one by one in the render queue.

Both ME CS4 & CS5 can batch transcode r3d's to what you want... but you don't have control over raw render settings....i don't know why - ask adobe

only way to really do that is to drop a r3d on a timeline and set all ur settings there and put it through AME from there i believe, which is tedious.

Here is a trick to add more than R3D file at at time. Open RedCine X and then select the R3D files you need and simply drag them to AME.

ok. so I open AME, then I can drag selected R3D files across to AME, and it can render out each as it's own file like REDrushes?

what is the explorer level software that lets you play back R3D files on a PC?

also anyone know a player that can playback dozens of quicktime files (like windows media player can do with wma files)

Quicktime itself only like to play a single QT per player window.

you can open multiple instances of QT movies, windows media player queues files, I don't remember it actually opening up many files at once. VLC might be able to do it if you that's what you are talking about.

only thing that will give you playback of r3ds is software like rushes, cine x, qt proxies, etc. nothing in windows explorer will let u play back r3d.

AME may have some benefits over rushes if all you need are basic offline proxies to edit with, but not so great if you need different levels of control. like your gamma and color space settings. But the benefit in in AME for cs5 is gonna be really good cause of the 64 bit.

Exactly.

Watch Folder

Watch Folder

You can also make a watch folder in ame and drop the r3d's in the watch folder. We are working on making AME a great R3D client soon... hang tight...
