Red won't repair mine, and couldn't suggest anyone to do it. I know it's out of warranty, but I just don't get how a manufacturer can't repair their own product. Makes so little sense.

So I'm looking to see where everyone else is repairing their bricks. I know a rental house who has about 12 dead ones and could use them being fixed as well.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

what exactly broke? i know there was a thread with some company repairing the bottom parts where the pins are. Or are you talking about something bigger like a re-celling?

Hmm, get a fire extinguisher that can handle an electrical fire, a faceshield, gloves and a metal work bench...then open her up and see if a pin came undone

I'll get right on that.

lol, i wasnt really joking. If one of my batteries break, i'll probably go that route.

If it's a complex problem then this wont help, but if its as simple as a wire came loose then it could be easy to self fix.

I posted a thread about this problem and was going to post a description for repairing the bricks, but the thread was closed down because Jarred thought the image I posted "clearly showed that you took absolutely no safety precautions what so ever in the process" (Quote from Jarred in the thread: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=522121). Please understand that, though I really like Jarred and RED a lot - he doesn't really know under which circumstances I took the battery apart or how much I know about electronics. I've taken quite a few of the RED Bricks apart and been able to fix them and as long as you take precautions and know what you're doing then I don't think it's a security risk at all. I won't post anything about this problem here on RedUser because I don't want to piss him off any more than I've already done, but feel free to contact me via e-mail and I'll give you the information about the problem and how to fix it - and you can decide whether or not you want to perform the procedure yourself or let someone else do it. Again - if you don't know what you're doing and don't know the safety that needs to be involved in the process then get someone else to do it from the information I give you.

My e-mail address is battery at kinema dot dk.

I have used http://www.rathboneenergy.com/ in the past, and I would NOT recommend them. Really long turn around, and 6 of the 8 batteries they recelled died within 2 weeks.

They may have been going through hard times, but I had bad experiences with them.

Re-celling batteries is generally a really bad idea, because Lithium-Ion batteries need to be of the exact same kind and (working)age to work properly. If there's even the slightest difference then they will effectively work "against" eachother and could cause the other cells to burn out a lot faster. If you're going for re-celling then you need to at least re-cell all four batteries in each group (there's four in a RED Brick).
