  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

breath taking timelapse

Thanks, Zak. That is awesome. I really want to see an aurora borealis in person sometime. But having lived in Chicago through cold winters for 25 years I am hesitant to take free time anywhere we can;'t dive and sail in tropical waters. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for posting this Zak, and major cudos to Terje Sørgjerd!

I could see something like this in my head for such a long time now. I still plan to ask Tom Lowe to shoot some of this kind of TL for Crowing Lakes, our winter feature. :lips are sealed: It is something else to finally see good high latitude TL work. Gor-geous-stuff! Snow is something else... and the auroras are definitely one of the coolest if not the coolest thing that happens on our planet. Combined with the moon, stars, and civilization's own lighting... I am in love.

Now that is wonderful!

So beautiful!! The aurora can be heart-stoppingly beautiful. It is one of my favorite things. Last year in Greenland I saw an intense purple aurora, that was so bright that it was bright, even when watched above street lights!!

Not only is it beautiful but the hardship one would endure to make these images is amazing. Thank God there are people this committed to making excellent imagery.

Another one from Northern Norway, released five days ago. Should be seen full screen.

My jaw is on the floor. This magnificent gem just gets more beautiful and awe inspiring by the second. The frame rate perfectly captures the grace of the aurora borealis.

Oh my god... the shot at 3:35 is perhaps the coolest thing anyone could ever see without leaving earth. Forgive me if I am wrong, but that looks like a shot directly from within the (Southern) magnetic pole...! I have to visit that town before I die. Though I always wanted to visit the Southern pole, so maybe I can see the other end, from what's perhaps the most alien landscape on the planet... just about as out of this world as you could get. 0.002 But hey, I GOTTA go to that town! It would give you the chance to experience that visual interaction between our planet and space weather while having what are bound to be some cool bars with great people! Oh yes, that sounds like a party. Hope I get to do both ends!!

Spectacular is an understatement. The shot at 0:56 is pure (white) gold. Thank you for posting this Iannis! And major cudos to Christian Salomonsen!!
