SO... Red Rocket Breakout Box, received this morning from FEDEX. After receiving, I updated RED ROCKET CARD to the latest driver, then firmware, then the firmware on the Breakout Box and rebooted it as per instructions.

When I am outputting RGB, I get a Green and Pink picture on SDI1a and a different Green Picture on SDI1b. I believe this is the 422 and 022 pictures from previous reports, playback all good. When I send a YUV422 8bit image I am getting a green picture with severe breakup. Please see attached file. The image plays back in realtime - but with this green breakup.

I have tested the SDI out on the Red Rocket Card directly, and it does not have the same problem. Which leads me to believe there may be an issue with the new firmware on the Breakout Box, or the Breakout box itself.

I am on a 2 x 2.4 Ghz Quadcore Intel Xeon MacPro with 6GB of RAM. Mac OS X 10.6.4. Running the latest build of REDCIne-X.

I have tested both REDCine-X and 32bit and 64 bit applications and am having the same problem. I have also rebooted, reconnected etc.

Any idea's would be much appreciated.

same here, we got BOB swapped with new ones twice now, and after having updated BOB firmware, drivers, etc,..same problem: all green and scrambled. If we disconnect the BOB and connect directly to the SDI out of the REDROCKET, we get nice and clear moving images. Spoken to RED Europe in London and they know nothing... RED USA perhaps may know something more??

the problem is that the RED Breakout Box is dual link only. Unfortunately this isnt in the documentation.

That was the outcome and reply from support. RedRocket is Dual Link 444 output only.

I'm sorry, but whoever told you that in INCORRECT. I am running my RedRocket as we speak via one SDI cable into my FSI monitor that is a single link 3g monitor....you have to set your output on the rocket card to YUV 422 8bit....but works as YUV 422 8,10 or 12 bit on mine...but you only get 8bit output via single SDI.

No....if someone at RED told you the ROCKET card is dual link 4444 only it would NOT have the options of 422 at different bit ratios....
UNLESS you are saying the Red BOB is dual link 4444 only???

Sorry, my fault - I was half reading your question when replying. The Breakout Box is dual link 444 output only, the red rocket is single link 422 and is working fine. Here is the response from Baselight Support:

'Hello,

Thanks for contacting RED Digital Cinema.

Are you trying to go single-link HD-SDI out of the Break Out Box, as this will only be sending a dual link signal.'

Apologies,
Marc

The breakout box should support both single and dual-link HD-SDI output. Obviously for single-link you would have to select a YUV 4:2:2 output in REDCINE-X. You also want to make sure the HD-SDI monitor is set to expect the right kind of input, not all select properly automatic.

I'll run some tests tomorrow to verify that it is working as it should. Any additional information anyone has on settings etc. that don't work properly would be appreciated.

So I ran a test today and confirmed that single-link HD-SDI output through the BOB does not seem to be working as expected. We're looking in to the problem, no ETA for a fix yet.

Rob (or anyone else), can you tell me what AC adapter is for the Breakout Box?

I have a Mean Well GS40A05-PIJ that says 5V = 5.0A 25W max. The specs seem to match but I just wanted to make sure.
