Of course... On location in Asia & out of the blue got "data integrity" error & cameras bricked after restart. Heading back to hotel...hoping reload of earlier firmware fixes issue. Any thoughts or tips are welcome.

That is the plan... Thank you. Does side handle need updating btw?

Thanks again...more shortly.

Yes, I believe even the SSD sometimes....if you're stranded in Asia with a brick, it's worth a try right? All the best man...I feel for you!

Nope...toast :(

Nope...toast :(

Force upgrade to .12 seemed to take but camera won't boot even stripped down.

Can't say I'm not horribly disappointed.

Ticket placed but doubt RED can or will do anything to save this location shoot.

So much for our entry into the Sharp 4K Film Fest Jarred wrote about. :(

Fingers crossed...thank you for your help and support.

PC , the log file is usually saved when shutting down the camera automatically. Check your redmags.

He just posted this:

Hello,

Our Brand new Epic just bricked :(

Anyone nearby have a camera we could rent reasonably for this personal shoot?

October 9th in Chaing Mail.

October 10-15 in Phuket.

Gratitude & Blessings...

I'm in Cheng Mai until tomorrow evening.

Camera raw won't start but I have log file from SSD & corrupted last frames before dying & will post that here in an hour or so.

Really grateful for all the support. :)

Gratitude,

Christopher

I'm in Phuket from 10th-15th if a loan / rental Scarlet or Epic is nearby.

What an incredible place...

Blessings...

Not all is lost then, Bangkok has a very large variety of RED's (Epics. Scarlets and ONE's) Most companies are willing to ship throughout Thailand and S.E Asia.

Try Gearhead or Studio ari, I've worked with both and they are great people (service, help and so on..)

Best of luck

Yep, we're based in Bangkok and have an Epic for rent! You can call me directly at 0850633567.

Thank you for the rental suggestions!

Regretfully this is a personal shoot and my budget was accounted for just getting here ;)

That said, I won't insult these fine people with a low ball offer to salvage my shoot. If some one is up for helping for far less than market rates, please let me know with a PM.

Thanks again all...lesson learned. Never take a new camera to a shoot without days of stress testing before hand.

That said, if this is not hardware failure (and I have to imagine it is) I am unsure why a force upgrade did not solve the issue.

I will post the final resolution here for others benefit in the future.

Thanks again,

PCG

Oh nooooooooooo!!!!!

I know how much this trip meant to you.
Geeeeeeeezzzzzz! Sorry for you!

Not sure what you think is a low ball offer but rental prices might be a lot less then you think - there's been a bit of a price war lately. Problem is more that rental houses are located in Bangkok and that nobody would rent out a camera without people so then you have to pay for transportation and hotel and it adds up. Still... don't give up hope! Maybe you can adjust your plans and shoot some around Bangkok? There's aways a way in this country. Give me a call and I can see what I can do for you.
