BP battery mount sturdiness

Has anyone run and gun long term using just BP batteries on their Komodo? I was just doing some light handheld work and one of the my Canon bp-955 batteries disconnected from the camera. I don't think it physically disconnected though. Not sure if it was because I bought it used, but a "?" symbol came up on the screen. Thanks

Seconded for Mutiny. Got one on my Komodo and it never really comes off.

Looks like their power only version of their battery mount.

Should be as good as their other options if you don’t need or want the breakout portion of their more expensive plate that has additional outputs for timecode, camera control, etc.

Yeah, might work for my needs. I have a portkeys for wireless camera control and the TC conversion cable... Have you heard anything about the core swx gold mount plate for the Komodo, Dustin?

I’m also a big fan of the Mutiny I/O. This stripped down “wedge” version looks good, though I’d miss one of my favorite features: the big tactile run/stop button on the top of the battery plate.

Haven’t tried the Core plate but you’ll probably get some opinions if you search (or post about it separately). I owned the Tilta plate, it was ok but not great—I’d choose the Mutiny for sure.

Thanks. I emailed Mutiny about the battery only version and they said it doesn't use the BP pins, so I guess that's good...

I would agree though that the features of the Mutiny IO make me prefer it to other options on the market. I also love the big run/stop button on the top of the Mutiny IO. It's almost exclusively where I find myself reaching when it's time to roll.

Not the Gold, but V-Mount Core SWX is what I use and can't compain about anthying with them. I switched to these after some of the Tilta plates got stuck to the camera so tight that I used a hammer to get them off (but from what I read here some time ago, that probably was only for a few in a specific series).

A hammer. And a dent in the egde of my desk reminds of the operation every day.
(It was soft rubber hammer though)

It's not a heavy addition by any means. Not something I've noticed too much.

Yep, price is all subjective of course, but if it meets your needs like it has met mine then it may be worth it. I do use the timecode and a lot of the power ports. I actually do not use the camera control at the moment, but may at some point, so I do like having that option.
