At least it's finally a delivery of an 8K M43 camera! It's not for me though at that price, a strong $1,800-2,300 option maybe but with the Fuji X-H2 out there with S35 8K and RAW 8K output, it's not ideal for cinematic shoppers. Plus, Blackmagic could surprise with their own Pocket 8K or even Pocket 12K in a few months so it's definitely late to the game. People in some comments around the web are balking at 11 stops of dynamic range but that's still a lot nicer than cameras used to be so if they can't make 11 stops look good then what would it do to have more? Add a speed booster and RAW output and this could be a nice workable M43 option but as a 10-bit only device, I'm not sure where it fits.

Although, to be honest, back when I saw the Sharp 8K prototype, I was really surprised how good the 8K video looked and I noticed that it started to lose that M43 "video look" and even began to not look like M43 video at all! This is why I want to see Sony, in particular, continue on with their camcorder sensor developments and bring out 8K camcorders and travel cameras like the RX100 and RX10 series as even with 4K, the current line of camcorders are above and beyond the video camcorders of old and that resolution difference must be blurring the line between formats so if they can just get it right we may see a renewed interest in sub-S35/FF cameras.

As I stated in another thread, I owned the Panasonic Gh1,Gh3, Gh4 and Gh5. I started with the Canon XH-A1 but got tired of all of the " Log and Capturing" from DV tape so I switched to the Canon 7D since I would be using it both for Photography and Video. However with the video Hacks available for the GH-1 at the time for a superior video image in relation to the Canon DSLRS, I switched to Panasonic. I like the video images I captured with the GH-1 but I missed the F.O.V of the Canon 7D so I thought I would try both the Nikon D-7000 and D-7100 for Video and Photography. But after learning about and trying out the various Speedboosters on the GH1, I went back to Panasonic and purchased the Gh3, 4, and 5.

After working with Arriraw and Red Raw over the years, I can't really see going back to the H-264/265 M4/3 format again for any reason 6K, 8K or whatever. I would be interested in maybe a Panasonic successor to the S1H with 8K and with the Autofocusing advancements of the S5ii and S5ii x with even more advanced features for both Photography and Video. I think ,as you mentioned , that a 8K M4/3 sensored cameras ship has probably already sailed. I also think that some type of internal ProRes or internal/ external Raw recording capabilities other than ProRes Raw is also needed to be competitive these days with all of the current competitors.

The footage looks really nice. Might help to clean the sensor before the test.

I think the footage looks ok but I think the grading they used appears to be trying to hide a not so great Dynamic Range, at least to me in some of the scenes.

Yeah, maybe. I have not space here to comment. I have reached out to the company to see if they would send a unit here to Norway for testing. I am not looking to buy one, but to play with one to see how it works is always of curiosity.

Yeah, I also would like it if when a manufacturer releases a new camera, they also release some sample footage to test as well. I understand that most times these companies have maybe not nailed down the final Color Science and don't want the images from the cameras to be judged before the final Color Science is finished.

I have seen that they have a few cameras on their list, as well as some to be released, that have a similar feeling to that of Komdo / Panasonic / Zcam etc. Of course the box style is nothing special. I am trying to figure out where they would fit into the already saturated market. Are they an American company or a Chinese company selling to the US market? I haven´t investigated further there.

I am interested to see what Blackmagic does next, if this MFT offering touts an 8k sensor, what is around the corner for us in 2023?

Anyway, good luck to them, I hope they find their community of users and create wicked and memorable content!

Patrick,

I was more interested in the Full Frame Version that I started a thread about and just recently found again that was going to be the "Komodo Killer".

Thread from the earlier part of last year
NAB 2022 - Bosma Shows its 8K Cameras - REDUSER.net

It seems ever new box shaped camera capable of 6K or 8K resolution is deemed the "Komodo Killer" but always ends up maybe administering a Superficial Flesh wound instead. But as you stated who knows where this company may go. It might fizzle out in a few years or become a genuine competitor for some of the big boys of today.

Good luck to them. I hope they find success.
