I'm sure this is going to be a strange thread, but I was bored of shooting ducks, buildings, and flags for 3 years, so I thought I'd make a "what to shoot" thread.

I'm in Los Angeles, but could drive out a bit.
I have no method of power other than wall outlets and a 50 foot power cord/car adapter.
Just one guy, me.
Epic-X, RPP's. No lights, no dollies.

Would be interested in hearing some ideas.

I wish I had time to be bored. I wouldn't mind shooting ducks, buildings, or flags....

I worked every single day for almost 17 years. I have a month off now and I'm bored as hell. I miss those days when I had cabin fever from being locked in with no windows.

I can't wait to drown myself with office work again. Believe it or not, I'm being totally honest :)

Open your eyes. There are so many amazing sights. So many amazing people. So many amazing stories.

Life is too exciting to be bored. So many stories to be told.

(What is this?)

Martin, you're absolutely right. I better go get some footage before the day is over.

Thanks everyone for the inspiration to actually go outside :)

sporting events are always fun to shoot.... well except maybe golf and baseball, sorry baseball and golf fans:-P I've found some friends who play competitive team sports such as flag football. When i'm bored or want to shoot something I just go to one of their practices or games, always a blast and guaranteed to get some great footages:-)

I've wanted to do some automotive sports as well, but havent had the opportunity. shooting Long Beach Grand Prix would be pretty awesome:-)

Long Beach Grand Prix is this week I think. That would be cool. Maybe I can call them and see if they let people with cameras get set up somewhere.

There's a sports park up the street and a dog park too. I'll just use the power adapter on the car and see what I can get.

I knew this thread might be cool. Thanks all.

Here's an idea.

Go to a model agency. Ask to photograph talent that needs some material for their books.

Go to an acting class, tell them your bored and have an epic.

Go to the federal prison downtown, interview and film the inmates or guards.

Drive some winding back roads of LA, shoot what interests you.

Go on a hike past Malibu, make it your goal to stay out till you film some wildlife, it's there.

Hike up the Griffith Park, try and find a stray coyote to film.

I have a more risky version of these suggestions if these are too boring. I remember when I was a kid, being bored sucks!

When I bought my first camera, I also bought a plane ticket to Mexico.I hooked up with some friends and drove to the town of Tequila. Because I had a camera people would talk to me, I made friends and doors opened to me. I made my first documentary. It did not sell, but it got the attention of discovery channel. They explained where I went wrong.

So, I bought a plane ticket to Africa, and made some friends. Discovery channel bought that documentary and order 9 more. The series sold to National Geographic and I have been working ever since. I have been to Africa over 50 times and almost every other continent shooting.

:) it's a good life.

Right now, there's a thousand filmmakers who want to jump off a bridge. :-)

Seriously, with an Epic or any camera for that matter, one should never find themselves bored without anything to shoot. Heck, get a mannequin and put it in some interesting places.

Why no power Joseph? Are you waiting for accessories?

the grand prix this year is the wknd of NAB next month hehe. part of the reason why i wont be going to the grand peix. But as far as i know you're not allow to bring professional cinema/video camera into the event, you'll need a press pass. as an attendee you're allowed DSLR at best. Who knows tho you might be able to sneak the epic in as a DSLR lol. On that note if anyone is able to get press access to such events I'd love to join you with my Epic! hehehehe
