Hello to all!

We´re shooting a film with the Red one, just actualized and sometimes, when we ´re using the batteries, the camera doesn´t go on. It simply start booting, but it stays there! A pare of times, we couldn´t even swich it off, because the on-off button, was not responding! En general, the camera looks like works fine. The only problem we´ve have until now, is that we don´t have a response respect this booting problem! Is there someone who can help, in order to find out what´s going on?

First of all you can try contacting the Red support on Red.com or phoning your Red customer representative.

My suggestion is to try reinstalling the firmware (download fresh copies from Red.com in case your current copies are the problem). You may have to downgrade and then reupgrade, as not sure if the camera recognises a firmware install if it's the same version as the current one on the camera.

I think your problems may indicate something corrupted in the bootup sequence. If this is the case, you may have to try reinstalling the firmware more than once, and waiting longer than usual for it to complete (make sure you're powered off mains or a fresh battery at least). If/when it's successful, you should do a black calibration of course.

With these provisos, you should obviously wait until you have several days free and have contingency plans ready if your camera does not respond or worse fails completely so it doesn't complete reinstallation of the firmware!

This sounds like it may be an old problem. Try disconnecting all the monitoring devices, LCD, EVF, and try to reboot again...

Of course, contact support at RED first. Second, if it is just batteries that are an issue - but house power source is fine - could be battery plate issue. Regardless, support will assist :)
