Our scarlet will not boot up with certain V-mount batteries. The red light on the side of the camera is illuminated, then when I push it to power on, it goes off and the fan kicks on for a few seconds. Then, about 5-8 seconds later the fan turns off and the red light illuminates again. If I switch batteries or plug it into AC, it boots up no problem and shows the camera was not shutdown properly warning box. The primary battery I'm having this issue with is the ikan IB-TR190S http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/903307-REG/ikan_IB_TR190S_Professional_Battery_with.html but I've also had the issue with some of our IDX batteries as well.

Since we also have an Epic M with the same exact V-Mount battery setup, I've swapped that and the issue persists only with the scarlet. Our Epic boots just fine with the same ikan batteries every time. I've also swapped every RED component between them to try and get the Epic not to boot (side handle, touch screen, PL mount, EF mount ect...) and no matter what I remove from the scarlet, it won't boot and the epic boots with everything no problems.

RED bricks and AC power work just fine on both cameras, so it's just something with these ikan and IDX batteries and the scarlet itself. Does anyone have any similar experience that might shine some light on the problem? Since it really isn't broken (still works fine with RED batteries), I don't really want to send it back to have RED check it out.

If am you. I only buy red battery.save money and extra work.

The problem is you can't travel with RED batteries, they are too large. The ikan IB-TR190S are great because they are 190Wh, but break into two pieces(90wh each) so that you can fly with them without any restrictions.

PAG Links at 96 each, linkable have worked 1st time, every time, for me.

Thank you very much

If you're using the exact same battery plate while testing the Epic-M and the Scarlet, it must be the batteries and/or the Scarlet combination. I think your Scarlet may just be drawing fractionally more start up current than your Epic.

I'm thinking it's this issue:

It's exactly the same plate. I even used the plate on the epic to power the scarlet, so I know the problem is specific to the scarlet. It just doesn't make sense that the scarlet would require more powered to boot than the Epic.

I've used those and and they are great batteries. I just couldn't get them in time for a series of shoots, so I ordered the ikans.

I'm wondering if I should just send the scarlet in for diagnostics, maybe there is a short somewhere or something...

I have the same problem with some V-locks I bought. My Scarlet doesn't turn on when only powered by these batteries. If I have Redvolt batteries in the sidehandle and the V-lock disconnected I can of course turn it on, and then I can connect the v-locks and get power from them. Really annoying. I should have done my research before buying into these specific v-locks.
