A few weeks ago we hired the person responsible for setting up all of Oakley's production. I worked with him for 15 years. He is the best.

RED is no longer a development company. Results should become apparent soon.

I like the sound of that

I try and refrain from the completely banal "Wow, that is really cool" posts, but that is really cool. It feels like this is a significant step.

This ROCKS ... especially considering your other post where you noted that Red's main challenge at the moment is manufacturing, especially compared to Japanese competitors.

With production/manufacturing optimized, it's truly scary to think how good Red will be going forward.

Thanks for this Jim, not that I needed it, but it's a fantastic confidence booster for putting all my chips on Red :)

I have always stood up for RED even with all of it's moved dates. Finally I can rest assured that that they'll take the world by storm, again. =]

This is phenomenal news - as exciting as the vicarious thrills of watching other people shoot their EPIC-Ms has been - watching shipping production EPIC-Xs hitting users' hands is going to be another measure of thrill entirely.

Well, I certainly hope RED will always be a development company, at least in spirit. May you never lose that love and joy that comes with birthing new RED gear!

This being said, we do look forward to seeing more products in more hands, which I believe is what this announcement is really about :).

D

Jim - I hope you mean "No longer JUST a development company." :thumbup1: :thumbup1: :thumbup1:

of course he did :)

Trust me.. we have so much cool stuff in development right now, your head will spin. That will never stop. Now that we have a Rockstar in charge of manufacturing, we can spend more time focusing on development and less time apologizing for how shitty we are actually getting stuff out the door :)

So - how long will the Oakley customers have to wait for their stuff now?
