I have a chance to pick up a Bomb EVF LCOS reasonably. Is it really horrible? Any suggestions on how to use it to best advantage?
Do the latest software upgrades help? What mount is preferable?
It will be used with Dragon. Any help is appreciated.
I have read all the threads, just hoping for current info.

Thank you,

Scott

It's a great EVF, I have one and it works perfectly fine. In this age of something new every second, consumerism takes over and today's gold is tomorrow's junk. Some folks began complaining about the OLED version when it came out. Can't please everyone. Personally, I was thrilled to not have the R1's stanley thermos monitor. It's all relative.

Heck, I'm still flying with an iPhone 4S, my wife uses the 4. We are so out-of-touch.

If you don't want to be a hipster doofus suckered into always having to buy the latest and greatest of whatever, get what you need. If that's the LCOS, grab it and enjoy. Like the new 7" LCD, RED will have a new EVF sometime soon that will make whatever version you have "less than". And we can't be having any of that now, can we? :scared:

As for mounts, many options. The Spinner works well, as does the Tactical EVF mount. Those would be my favorites.

Scott, I use the Bomb EVF (LCOS) on my Dragon, and it works just great. It is not as contrasty as the OLED version, but I am far more concerned with framing and basic exposure than color accuracy (that's why we shoot RAW). As far as mounting, there are lots of different mounts available, and differences of opinions about them Personally, I am partial to the WC UVF2, it uses a 15mm tube mount combined with a NATO rail slider, and is very adjustable and easy to mount…ET makes a similar design.
